The best place for fresh affordable seafood in Nashville, Tennessee is none other than The Poki. With locations in both Brentwood and near Vanderbilt, the price and quality of fresh fish cannot be beat. In the current state of the economy, inflation is taking a big toll on all of us. Paying for sushi night at Virago, Nashville’s premier sushi restaurant Downtown costs an arm and a leg: from experience, it is impossible to leave under $210 for two people.
The Poki is Nashville’s best solution. Poki is essentially deconstructed sushi in bowl form, and let me tell you, it’s absolutely delicious. For two people ordering large bowls with drinks, the bill totals about $50 - much more affordable than fancy sushi and equally delicious. But beware, quantities of fresh fish are limited to small daily batches, so make sure to visit before 4:00pm to ensure choice.
As of last night, September 20th, I was able to leave at a total bill of $20.06 for a large bowl including +$1 for fresh avocado. My favorite order is a large bowl with white rice, 5 scoops of spicy tuna, edamame, corn, green onion, mounds of sriracha aioli, furikake seasoning, and fresh avocado. Stuffed with scrumptious sea-food, I usually take home one-fourth of my bowl. Furthermore, it takes the assembly servers about seven minutes to build-a-bowl and checkout - a speedy dinner affair.
Filling, affordable, and fast, the Poki is a great restaurant for weeknight take-out or weekend lunches with friends. 8.5/10 stars.
