After dominating for the first half of the season, the Red Bull win streak was finally broken by none other than Ferrari driver Carlos Sainz. After starting 11th on the grid in Singapore, Verstappen was able to climb his way up to 5th place at the end of the race, not quite enough to continue the win streak, but enough to score points. Liam Lawson, the driver filling in at AlphaTauri for Daniel Ricciardo, who broke a metacarpal during free practice at the Dutch Grand Prix, scored his first points in Formula One in Singapore. He came in at 9th place picking up 2 points for the AlphaTauri team, more than the other drivers, Nick De Vries and Daniel Ricciardo, who had the seat before him this season.

But Verstappen couldn’t be held back for long; he picked up his 13th win of the season at the Japanese Grand Prix, which allowed Red Bull to seal the Constructor’s Championship as they were 318 points ahead of Mercedes. But not everyone was as lucky at the Grand Prix as Verstappen. Sergio Perez, Logan Sargeant, Alex Albon, Lance Stroll, and Valtteri Bottas all did not finish the race that weekend. With both Sargeant and Albon out, Williams faced its first double DNF since Singapore 2022.

Ferrari:

The Scuderia Ferrari Team was founded by Enzo Ferrari. The team entered its first Formula One race in 1950, and its first race win came the following season on July 14, 1951, at the British Grand Prix with Jose Froilan Gonzalez. The team’s principal and general manager,Frédéric Vasseur, started his position on the team in January of 2023.

In the constructor’s championship, the team has 298 points, putting them into third place. Its drivers, Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz, have contracts with the team until the end of the 2024 season.

Charles Leclerc:

Charles Marc Hervé Perceval Leclerc was born in Monaco, on October 16, 1997. Leclerc started his Formula One career as a driver for Alfa Romeo Sauber in 2018. The next season, in 2019, he joined the Ferrari driver lineup where he remains today. Leclerc’s current contract with Ferrari has been extended until 2024.

He races for his late father, Hervé Leclerc, and godfather, Jules Bianchi, who died during a race in 2015.

This season he has been full of ups and downs for Leclerc. He did not finish at Bahrain, the first race of the season, as well as Australia, and the Netherlands. On the other hand, he has had three podiums this season, and throughout his career, he has had 27 podium appearances. Leclerc is in 6th place in the driver’s championship with a total of 145 points this season.

Carlos Sainz:

Carlos Sainz was born on September 1, 1994, in Madrid, Spain. He has an incredibly long full name which is Carlos Sainz Vázquez de Castro Cenamor Rincón Rebollo Virto Moreno de Aranda Mr. Per Urrielagoiria Pérez del Pulgar.

Sainz’s first team in Formula One was Scuderia Toro Rosso, now called AlphaTauri, in 2015. After Toro Rosso, he moved to Renault, then McLaren, and most recently Ferrari with a contract until 2024.

The Ferrari driver is the only non-Red Bull driver to win a race this season. His victory in Singapore marked the end of the record-breaking Red Bull and Verstappen win streaks. Aside from his win, he has 1 other podium and a total of 153 points which puts him in 5th place in the driver’s championship.
